A Journey Through Pre-History From Caves to Stone Circles

Lecture 1: Wednesday 16 November

From Lucy to Lascaux: the rise of Homo sapiens

In this lecture we will follow the rise of our species along its evolutionary tree, with a special eye towards the archaeological record that was left behind by the different hominid species and what it can tells us about their cognitive abilities.

Lecture 2: Wednesday 23 November

From Shell Middens to Stonehenge: monumentalizing skyscapes

This lecture follows on from the previous one by focusing on the last seven thousand years of the Stone Age, particularly looking at how structures of a monumental nature started to be built and encoded elements of a cosmological nature.


This fundraiser only costs £15 for students and graduates only.

All proceeds go to the Alumni.


Lecturer: Fabio da Silva

Fabio da Silva was awarded his Ph D in Astrophysics in 2010 and has an MA in Cultural Astronomy and Astrology (2012). Fabio works as a tutor in the Sophia Centre for the Study of Cosmology in Culture at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David.
