Jonathan Jones
The Cosmos and our livelihood
Abstract
The Cosmos and our Livelihood - My dissertation research led me to take a wider interest in the development of human economy over human history and how cosmology has been embedded in that development. Since pre-historic times humans have had a relationship with the Sun, the Moon, the planets, and the stars in regulating their daily lives and systems have been developed to enhance that relationship. The book that I am completing examines this long history and brings us to the current day. I will discuss the process that I have followed with some anecdotes about the adventure of writing the book.

He was always a keen historian and cosmologist from teenage years onwards. In his dissertation he studied the impact of astrology on the financial world in the last two hundred years and has given a number of talks on the subject.

States of Mind, Hermeneutics and Destiny
Abstract
States of Mind, Hermeneutics and Destiny - This talk will discuss the relevant role of altered states of mind in astrological practice. I will do this by examining the different hermeneutic levels that can be applied to symbols and how this influence people’s experiences of the notion of destiny.
