Call for Panels and/or Workshops

BANEA 6-8th January 2016

University of Wales, Trinity Saint David Lampeter

Croeso i BANEA 2016!

The Schools of Archaeology History, and Anthropology and Classics are pleased to be hosting BANEA 2016 at Lampeter (UWTSD).

We invite proposals for panel and workshop sessions exploring the theme of Land, Sea and Sky in the Near East from earliest human occupation to the twenty-first century. We welcome contributions from a wide range of disciplines and interests, which variously explore land-, sea- and sky-scapes in the region, drawing on the myriad ways in which this region has been shaped, experienced, contested and entangled in people's lives, their social interactions and their cosmologies.

If you would like to organise a session please upload an abstract of around 200-words (and no more than 350) on our dedicated page.

  • Panels will be a 1.5 hours long; each paper should be 20 minutes (with 10 minutes for discussion). Please indicate whether you have speakers for the panels - otherwise we will open these out to a general call for papers.
  • The workshops are intended to provide more focused engagement and detailed discussion of a specific topic within a roundtable format within one of our dedicated seminar rooms. The panels are designed for more open/public presentation in the larger lecturing spaces.

The deadline for submission of your abstract is 30th June 2015. Confirmation of workshops and panels will be by July 7th 2015, when the call for papers will be launched.

[The deadline for individual papers is October 31st 2015]
