For the JSA/Sophia Centre Skyscape Archaeology Keynote Lecture Series
We are delighted to announce that the Journal of Skyscape Archaeology and the Sophia Centre at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David are teaming up to present a monthly online "Skyscape Archaeology Keynote Lecture Series" with a global reach, drawing on the wide scholarship in the field in order to present information and exchange ideas. The proceeds will be used to fund small bursaries to encourage scholarship in this area.
We have a great line-up of speakers featuring Dr Ed Krupp, Griffith Observatory, Los Angeles, USA; Professor Stanislaw Iwaniszewski, Instituto Nacional de Antropologia a Historia, Mexico; Dr Steven Gullberg, University of Oklahoma, USA; Associate Professor Duane Hamacher, University of Melbourne, Australia; Dr Frank Prendergast, Technological University Dublin, Ireland; Dr Georg Zotti, Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Archaeological Prospection and Virtual Archaeology, Austria; Associate Professor Marc Frincu, Universitatea de Vest din Timișoara, Romania; Dr Kenneth Brophy, University of Glasgow, UK; Dr Katya Stroud, Heritage Malta; Dr Juan Belmonte, Instituto de Astrofisica de Canarias, Spain; Dr Alejandro López, Instituto de Ciencias Antropológicas, Argentina and Carolyn Kennett, Archaeoastronomy, Cornwall.
Each Zoom session will consist of two 45 minute lectures, each followed by questions from the audience and the schedule is as follows:
Each lecture will last for approximately two hours. All sessions will be recorded and you will have access to the recordings for a month afterwards (useful if you can't join live).
The cost is £10 per session or £50 for all six.

The Journal of Skyscape Archaeology is the only academic journal in the world to explore the relationship between archaeolgical sites and the sky, stars and planets, including archaeoastronomy. The journal’s advisory board includes senior academics and researchers from across the field.
The Sophia Centre for the Study of Cosmology in Culture is a research and teaching centre at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David. It examines the relationships between cosmology and culture through history, anthropology philosophy and archaeology. and teaches the Master’s degrees in Cultural Astronomy and Astrology and Ecology and Spirituality.
